Nursery

The furniture is in place. Now, off to Babies R Us to buy a crib mattress and bedding with all of our gift cards :) I'm hoping Dustin will paint the changing table for me so it doesn't stick out so bad. The table in the corner with the lamp will have a tv/dvd player on it (lamps gone).

Ouch!

So far, I have been super lucky and have had a pretty easy pregnancy. I'm not quite sure what has happened over the past week, but I am beginning to have some uncomfortable issues. First, on Tuesday I started having these shooting pains coming from my right bottom cheek that would go down my leg. I have these pains off and on when I put pressure on my foot to step. The big problem is that when I get one of these pains, my leg gives out and I have to try and catch myself. I've been moving pretty slow because I am so scared I am going to fall, especially going down the steps or carrying breakable things. I've looked up some information about this and apparently it's pretty common in pregnancy. If I am correct, it is something called Sciatica. It happens because either the baby or your uterus is pushing on your sciatica nerve. There didn't seem to be much I could do about it. The many websites had a few suggestions, like putting your feet up (like that one!), swimming, taking a luke warm bath, and massage (like that one too!).

Then, Tuesday night into Wednesday morning posed a new problem. I woke up many times through the night and my wrists, hands, and lower arms were achy and asleep. This made it very difficult to go back to sleep each time. In the morning, the asleep feeling slowly went away, but the dull ache continued. Last night I didn't have any problems with them falling asleep, but they are still very achy. I tried to look up some info on this one too. The only thing I found that could be a possibility is the beginnings of pregnancy carpal tunnel. I REALLY hope this is not the case!

I go for my monthly check-up on Monday 7/6. I will surely talk with the doctor about all of these new developments. I still have 14 weeks to go....so please pray that I continue to have a healthy happy pregnancy.

Love,
Mommy-to-be Erin

Beginnings of a Beautiful Nursery

The baby's room is finally underway! Dustin spent 5 days painting. For some reason, the walls just ate up the paint and it took 4 coats and 3 gallons of paint. Dustin wouldn't let me see the room at all once he started painting it, so it was a long anxious 5 days of waiting. He also put together the crib for me before I could see it. Today, he put together the glider. It's coming along nicely :)

Here is the color of the room before Dustin painted it. It was a very ugly purple. We never changed it after moving into the house 2 years ago since it was just a guest bedroom. You can also see all the random baby stuff we have been collecting.

The crib finally put together.

The new color of the nursery is a light pink. You can see my glider. I also covered the futon in a sage sheet since it will stay in the room.

24 Weeks Pregnant

Today, Dustin and I are celebrating 3 years of wedded bliss :)
The doctors office called last week to let us know that everything looks great with baby girl. Even though she is still a couple of days behind, she is growing at a normal rate and looks healthy. It made Dustin and I feel much better to hear that :) My favorite thing lately has been feeling her move around. She is a very active little girl! Also, I have finally started to gain some weight. Based on my bathroom scale, I've gained about 4 pounds.
T-minus 16 weeks until I'm a mommy!

Erin

Sonogram #2

This is baby Schularick's side profile. You can see all her facial features. The dot above her chin is her hand. This is almost all of her! Half of her legs are cut off, but you can see almost her whole precious body!

We had our follow-up sonogram today. Once again everything looked great. She was in exactly the same position as last time, head down and feet up to the right. She even had her left hand over her face again. She must really like that position. It was great to see her again and all her body parts and working organs. This time, we saw all four chambers of her heart, her blood flow (with these crazy colors they used), and her kidneys. She was still measuring a few days small, but has grown at a normal rate since the last sonogram. The ultrasound tech said that our due date may be just a few days off. I'll see what the doctor says about it at my next check up. I love her so much already!!

Surprise Baby Shower!

Hello all! It's been too long. I have a few updates. I went home for the first week in June to visit my family. While I was there, my mom suprised me with a baby shower. I had absolutely no idea! I thought I would have a shower in July, so I wasn't expecting anything and I was completely oblivious to all the "clues" around me. It was so nice and I was really excited! I felt very special :) Baby girl Schularick got lots of great things. She got tons of onsies, sleepers, and toys. She also got her stroller, pack 'n play, high chair, jumper seat, boppy pillow, diaper bags, hamper, etc etc etc. I am really excited to start getting everything together for her.

Dustin and I finally got all the furniture moved out of the babies room. We also ordered beautiful crib & chest for the baby, got a glider, and a changing table. I bought the changing table from someone off of craigs list. It's in great condition but not the right color. Maybe Dustin can paint it for me? Hopefully we will get painting very soon. I've got lots of pink paint samples from Home Depot.

I also had my monthly check up this week. I still haven't gained a pound, but doc says it's nothing to worry about. The doc also measured my belly for the first time, and it was 22 centimeters, which is exactly where I should be at 22 week pregnant. We have our repeat ultrasound tomorrow morning. I can't wait to see my little girl again! Hopefully she grew enough, I feel like I've been eating like crazy.

18 weeks to go!

Half Way There!

I am officially 20 weeks pregnant this week, half way to meeting our little bundle of joy. This puts me right in the middle of my 5th month of pregnancy. The good stuff happening to my body so far; great finger nails, fast growing hair, my arms, legs, and face are getting thinner, and boobs are getting bigger. The bad stuff; my face is constantly terribly broken out, I don't sleep well, I have a crazy pregnancy rash on my right arm that won't go away, and I get really tired doing anything physical really fast. Dustin and I are having lots of fun planning the nursery. We will be going furniture shopping and work will start on the nursery in the next couple of weeks. We also finished our registries :)
T minus 20 weeks to go :)
